Pollok FC – SFA Licensing Update

Pollok Football Club can confirm that plans to achieve a Scottish FA Licence for Newlandsfield are progressing well.

Our application to the Scottish FA for Membership was submitted this month.

After discussions and negotiations with the two main sports floodlighting contractors in Scotland, a preferred solution has been identified and a planning application is underway. The considerable groundworks for the installation of floodlights have also been specified and costed.

A Planning Application for the installation of a modular toilet block and disabled toilets has also been submitted.

Likewise, most of the administrative requirements that are needed for licensing are also complete.

However, there is still a lot to do, including:

  • disabled access and cover
  • signage around the ground
  • filling Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Medical roles at the Club to name just a few.

We aim to have these, and all other requirements, completed by February 2022 but we understand there are elements that we cannot control such as the weather, the planning process and the resources that may be available to us at the time we need them.

At this stage we envisage that the source of most of the required funds has been identified but there may be a shortfall or gaps for certain items and there will always be more we can do.

As such we do intend to appeal to members and supporters for financial assistance but without anyone being made to feel that it is any sort of obligation.

The Club would like to put on record its thanks to those who have worked so hard and given so much of their time to the task so far and to those who have volunteered their services for the future.

Supporter Info: Pollok v Glasgow Perthshire

Ahead of Saturday’s match, we would like to remind all Pollok and Glasgow Perthshire supporters that absolutely NO alcohol is permitted inside Newlandsfield Park under any circumstances.

All supporters are cordially requested to comply fully with this, as neither club is responsible for any expense or disappointment resulting from attempts to ignore it.

The game kicks off at 1:45pm. Admission is ?6 for adults, ?3 for concessions (OAP’s and under 16’s).

Pollok players score three in Scottish International warm-up

Pollok’s international contingent were amongst the goals last night as the Scottish Junior national team rounded off their warm up program ahead of next weeks Umbro tournament with a 7-0 win against Renfrew.

Midfielder Bryan Young wore the captains armband for the international side as fellow midfielders Ross Brash and Gary McCann also started the match for Scotland. Mark Sideserf was named on the substitutes bench.

A first half Ross Brash header to put Scotland 2-0 up was later followed in the second half by another header, this time by Bryan Young, which put the Scots 5-0 up. Gary McCann capped off a fine display with a curling effort in the 88th minute.

The Umbro tournament featuring Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man starts next Wednesday with a programme of 3 games over 4 days. Scotland’s final match against the Isle of Man will take place at Newlandsfield on Saturday 14th October with a 2:30pm kick off.
