Central midfielder Darren joined Lok in October 2022 from West of Scotland Premier Division rivals Darvel where he had played for a few seasons, the last month spent with Benburb. He spent his early football days with a number of clubs in the Scottish YFA such as Campsie Black Watch, South Camlachie and Knightswood Juveniles and got his first taste of senior football in 2013 when he signed for Albion Rovers. After 5 league appearances and a goal for the Wee Rovers, he rounded off that season with Irvine Meadow XI. 2014-15 saw Darren make 30 appearances at League 2 level for Queen’s Park and on the back of that, won a move to Championship side Dumbarton, but transferred to Colville Park in the Central Scottish AFL for a brief spell not long after the start of the season, moving on again to Kilbirnie in the September. He re-signed for Queen’s Park in June 2016, making 10 appearances in League 2 – the highest level he made a first team appearance. Clyde had him on loan for a few months before he returned to Colville Park for the latter half of 2016-17, also signing with Sunday outfit Treble 2. He returned to Clyde for a brief spell at the start of 2017-18, but by September had departed for Vale of Clyde and again returned to the amateur ranks for the latter part of the season, again with Colville and also Drumchapel United in the Sunday amateurs. He stayed with Colville until the summer of 2019, signing up with East End Tower from the Sunday AFL for 2018-19, at which point he joined Darvel. He left Lok to rejoin Darvel in December 2022.
