Saturday saw Kirkintilloch Rob Roy visit Newlandsfield, where Gary Carroll?s 18th?minute penalty was cancelled out by McCluskey just prior to the half hour. Two quick goals early in the second half, Gary McCulloch putting through his own net before Adam Forde tapped in number three, gave Pollok the advantage.

McCluskey then turned from saint to spot-kick sinner when his effort was saved by Michael McKinven, but his blushes were spared in the 85th?minute when Liam Rowan made it 4-1 and put the result beyond doubt.

Girvan v Pollok

Report by Mark DONNELLY

Pollok went nap on Saturday as they returned from Girvan?s Hamilton Park with all three points courtesy of a 5-0 win.?Some nice interplay between ?Lok?s attacking triumvirate of Stefan McCluskey, Adam Forde and Stuart McCann saw the latter put his side in the lead in the 19th minute. The same player made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute rising highest to send a downward header into the net from a Forde corner.

Forde?s flag-kicks caused the home rearguard problems all afternoon, and it was from another that the visitors netted their third, McCluskey guiding the ball home with the merest of touches. Forde deservedly got his name on the scoresheet after unselfish play from Stuart McCann, who, despite being on a hat-trick, squared to his better placed partner for a tap-in. The scoring was completed by the impressive Forde when he ran on to a through ball, rounded the goalkeeper and rolled to ball into the empty net from an acute angle.

Admission:??6 adults, ?3 concessions.

Pollok v Beith Juniors

Att: 620

Match report by Christopher Dodds

Tony McInally slammed his side’s defending in the final minutes as Pollok surrendered a two goal lead in the final 10 minutes against Beith, saying that ?We sat back too much and they punished us for it – we need to be better than that. We were the better side over 85 minutes.?

Stefan McCluskey drove into the box inside the first 10 minutes and was felled by an outstretched leg from the Beith defender, however whistler Steven Graham waved away the Lok protests. McCluskey again had a chance just before half an hour after being played through by the ever-present Bryan Young, who fed the attacker in the left hand side of the box with a floated ball from the right. McCluskey fired low to the left, forcing a magnificent save from Beith keeper Stephen Grindlay.

A second half penalty from BRYAN WHARTON broke the deadlock after Darren Christie bundled the lively McCluskey down in the area on the hour mark and a fierce STUART MCCANN strike had Lok up 2-0 and looking rosey.

However a Grant Evans red card, his third in three games against Beith, proved to be the spark in a Beith revival with goals with a DARREN CHRISTIE screamer from the edge of the box after taking on a host of Pollok defenders, finding space on the edge of the box and firing into the top left corner a last second PAUL FRIZE equaliser, a scrappy finish with 17 men in the Lok box, sent the North Ayrshire men home with a share of the spoils.

Admission: ?6 adults, ?3 concessions. Members enter via members gate.

Pollok 2-1 Kilwinning Rangers

West of Scotland Superleague

Newlandsfield Park, Saturday 31st March 2018

Report by Mark DONNELLY

Photos by Ross MacDonald

Pollok made it six points out of six against Kilwinning Rangers this season with a 2-1 victory over the league leaders at Newlandsfield Park. The visitors got off to the best possible start by taking a 3rd minute lead. The ?Lok rearguard failed to deal with Carlo Monti?s free-kick, allowing Craig Pettigrew to finish crisply. Pettigrew then kept his side in front, getting his body in the way to block Stuart McCann?s shot on the goal-line after the ball rebounded to him off the crossbar.

The homesters restored parity in the 33rd minute with a top quality strike. Stuart McCann nodded down to his strike partner Adam Forde, his emphatic first-time effort sailing over the helpless Adam Strain in the Buffs? goal. The scoring was completed in the 47th minute, Strain spilled a Ryan McGregor volley into the path of Bryan Young to net from close range.

Kilwinning came close to equalising twice during the second period, hitting the woodwork, before ex-?Lok midfielder Findlay Frye?s stoppage time challenge on Young was deemed worthy of a straight red card by arbiter Stephen Brown.
