Royal Albert 0-5 Pollok
West of Scotland Cup
Saturday 11th November 2017, Craighead Park, Lesmahagow
Pollok began their defence of the West of Scotland Cup by going nap, beating Royal Albert 5-0 at Lesmahagow?s Craighead Park.
A lightning start saw ?Lok take the lead after 84 seconds, Ryan McGregor?s through ball setting Gary McCann in behind the Albert rearguard to finish decisively.
Nicky Little had a chance to double the lead from the penalty mark when Stuart McCann was felled in the box, Royal Albert custodian Craig Smith guessing correctly to deny him.
This proved to be a temporary respite as ?Lok stretched the advantage in the 31st minute, Liam Rowan?s corner was flicked on where little Nicky Prentice popped up to net.
It was 3-0 two minutes before half-time, Gary McCann with an almost carbon copy of his earlier strike.
Another spot-kick was awarded to Pollok when Stuart McCann was again impeded, Rowan this time was the sinner when his kick hit the post.
From the resultant goal-kick Prentice pounced on a short passback to secure his brace with a comprehensive finish.
The scoring was completed in the 83rd minute when Adam Forde?s free-kick rebounded back into his path, and his second effort seemed to foozle Smith as the ball squirmed underneath him.
