PREVIEW
Pollok travel to the North of Glasgow on Saturday as we take on Rossvale. Both clubs were in action in midweek, Pollok drawing 0-0 away to Hurlford while at the same time Rossvale were rampant as they beat Kilbrinie 6-1 away in Ayrshire.
The victory on Wednesday was Rossvale’s first win of the season and will be hoping it turns their league form around, hopefully not starting on Saturday! Two goals a piece from Jamie Young and Shug Kerr were added to by James Finlay and 16-year-old Ricco Diack, to give new boss and Ricco’s dad, Iain Diack his first win.
Diack took over as manager after Rossvale lost their first two games, and it looks like they are coming through the other side after a difficult spell of injuries that have blighted their start to the season.
Rossvale were formed in 1976 as a boys team and still have a large academy section with over 600 players. The club joined the Juniors in 2011 and quickly progressed through the leagues, being promoted to the West Region Premiership before moving to the West of Scotland Football League in 2020.
The club have had a nomadic existence, with their home base being Huntershill in Bishopbriggs but with upgrades being required by the local council the WoSFL side have had to play at New Tinto Park last season and this season sees them return to Petershill Park having groundshared there previously.
Diack has added James Dolan in the last couple of days, a loan signing from Ayr United.
Pollok last faced Rossvale on 7th December 2019 when it finished all even, 1-1. Adam Forde scored his 50th goal for ‘The Lok’. Forde could make his 100th appearance on Saturday if he plays.
