PREVIEW
Pollok are in Kilmarnock Pie WoSFL Cup first round action and we welcome a new opponent for the club with the visit of Campbeltown Pupils.
The ‘Lok go into the game on the back of a 4-0 win over Cumock last week at Newlandsfield, goalscorers were Adam Forde, Bryan Wharton and a double from Matty Grant.
Campbeltown play in WOSFL Division 4, their game last week against St Peter’s was postponed due to weather conditions. The club currently find themselves bottom of the league, with 9 points from 17 games, their record is 3 wins, 3 draws and 11 defeats, unfortunately for them they had 3 points deducted due to fielding an ineligible player.
Pollok manager Murdie MacKinnon gave us his thoughts on Saturday’s opponents.
“We look forward to welcoming Campbeltown pupils to Newlandsfield.” Murdie said, “We are expecting a highly competitive cup tie. Campbeltown will come with high hopes of causing an upset and we need to ensure that we go out and give a level of performance that is fitting of this game and the cup.”
Murdie hopes we can go far in the tournament but won’t over look Campbeltown.
“This is our first journey in this tournament and it is one we would like to go on and win. In order to do so, it is vital that we show Campbeltown every respect , as we always do with every opponent, and play with some of the attacking flare of last week. We look forward to what will be a very good game.”
There will be another foodbank collection at the Pavillion, so anything you can donate would be welcome.
As this is the first encounter between Pollok and Campbeltown we would like to offer a warm welcome and hope they can go on to have a successful time at West Of Scotland Football League level.
