Pollok return to WoSFL Premier Division action after a couple of weeks playing Cup football. Troon are the visitors to Newlandsfield this weekend.
Pollok moved into the next round of the Scottish Cup with a 6-0 away win to Penicuik, where the club will now face Gala Fairydean Rovers. The ‘Lok are currently second in the league table and have lost only once this season in all competitions.
Last week, Troon went down 2-1 at home to Arthurlie, it has been a season of mixed results, so far for Jimmy Kirkwood’s men. They currently sit 11th in the table, with a record of two wins, two draws and four defeats. Their last five matches in all competitions have seen them win two, lose two and draw one.
In the last five matches between the clubs, Pollok have won four, with Troon winning one. The last meeting was a league match on April 1st 2023, when Pollok won 5-3, the Pollok goalscorers on the day were, Rumsby, Christie, Forde, Doherty and McCann.
There has been a football team in Troon as far back as 1875, the current club were formed in 1946. Manager Jimmy Kirkwood is in his second spell after a two-year period as General Manager. Kirkwood led Troon to promotion to the then newly formed West Premiership in 2018 at the first time of asking after relegation the year before.
