Pollok are back at Newlandsfield after a couple of weeks on our travels. Troon are the visitors as Pollok look to keep their 10-game unbeaten run going.
Last weekend Pollok knocked out Vale of Clyde from the South Challenge Cup, with a 4-0 win. A goal from Chris Duff in the first half was added to by Callum Graham, David Brownlie and Stuart McCann in a 5-minute goalscoring spree in the second half. Troon also progressed to the next round when they dispatched of Lanark United 3-1 at Portland Park.
Troon have Mark Morrison, Ross McCrea and Todd Henderson on the long-term injury list and will be without the suspended Raymond Montgomerie. Troon sit 12th in the WOSFL Premier Division on 20 points, with a record of 6 wins, 2 draws and 9 defeats.
There has been a football team in Troon as far back as 1875, the current club were formed in 1946. Manager Jimmy Kirkwood is in his second spell after a two-year period as General Manager. Kirkwood led Troon to promotion to the then newly formed West Premiership in 2018 at the first time of asking after relegation the year before.
Pollok manager Murdie MacKinnon gave us his thoughts on the game.

“Tomorrow we welcome Troon to Newlandsfield in what I expect to be a difficult match.” Murdie said. “Troon are always well organised and a constant threat throughout the game. Jimmy and Dean have added quality to their squad and that shows in a recent run of good form. They will get our full respect as always.

“We will need to be at our best to get the 3 points but we are on a decent run of form ourselves and I have every confidence in our lads to keep the bar set high and get the result we are looking for.

“We have a great group of players and their attitude to the game is outstanding. They have given everything so far and I know they will continue to give everything in order to win the game tomorrow.”
