Pollok opened their West Of Scotland Sectional Cup campaign with a professional victory over Maryhill on Saturday afternoon after scoring through an Adam Forde double, Danny Boyle and Mohammed Niang in a 4-1 win. After a lacklustre first half, Lok opened the scoring after around an hour, through Adam Forde. Bryan Young?s low corner came in from the left, with Adam Forde waiting at the front post to knock it past ex Lok custodian Andrew Duncan in the Hill net into the bottom left hand corner.
Lok doubled their advantage less than 10 minutes later, scoring from another corner. Adam Forde swung the ball in from the right hand side and new signing Boyle rose highest, to bullet the ball home leaving the keeper with no chance at the back post.
Maryhill pulled one back with 15 minutes left on the clock through Tam McGaughey, who received the ball around 35 yards out, took on his man and shot from around 25 yards, low and hard into the bottom right hand corner, beyond the reach of Jordan Longmuir in the Lok net.
Lok again increased their lead to two goals in the 82nd minute when Adam Forde received the ball at the right hand side of the area, took on his man and hit a reverse shot from the left hand side of the ?D? into the bottom right corner to make it 3-1.
As time ran out for a ‘Hill comeback, Mohamed Niang made it four, meaning he is the first academy graduate to score for the first team, a yearon from making his debut. After a neat one-two with Adam Forde at the edge of the area, ?Sena? was one-on-one with the keeper and calmly slotted it into the bottom right corner, to bring an end to the scoring.
This result meant that Pollok top the group with Rossvale behind them with Shettleston and Maryhill occupying 3rd and 4th spot respectively.
