Pollok’s slow start to the 2018-19 season continued on Saturday as they were defeated 3-2 at home to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, who by doing so won their first three points of the season in the process.

The game sprung to life in the last few minutes of the first half. Pollok couldn’t make the most of their pressure and Rob Roy cleared their lines. With the ball being hit up the park from Sweeney, Connor Hughes flicked the ball on with his head into the path Gary Carroll in acres of space at the edge of the area after some great running. Carroll’s shot at the edge of the area was well saved by Longmuir but it landed to Sam Mckenzie who’s follow up was brilliantly blocked again from 12 yards, however the ball landed at the feet of Gary Carroll who was able to lift the it into the net at the second time of asking.

Pollok came flying out the blocks in the second half, scoring four minutes after the interval through Bryan Young. After some bad defending from Ewan McNeil’s free kick from the right, it landed at the feet of Young who fired the ball off the leg of John Sweeney and into the net from 18 yards out.

Ten minutes later Adam Forde scored a stunning half volley from 25 yards out. Danny Boyle played the ball to Gormley, who touched it back for Forde who let it bounce to compose himself. He unleashed a ferocious half volley with his left foot into the left hand side of the net.

With 12 minutes remaining, Rab’s on loan Livingston defender Cammy Clark played the ball into Sawyers at the edge of the box. He flicked the ball into the path of fellow sub Lee Gallacher, who beat the offside trap. He turned Boyle then slotted the ball neatly into the bottom left corner beyond Longmuir.

Five minutes later Currie-Mclean beat Mark Sideserf on the right at the edge of the area, then hit a low ball across the box into the path of Gallacher whose first touch originally let him down, but he re-adjusted himself, and back-heeled the ball into an empty net to seal the win for the Rabs.
