Pollok finally got their first win of the new West Premiership season on Saturday at the fourth time of asking, beating Cambuslang Rangers 3-2 at Newlandsfield on Saturday. Lok opened the scoring in the dying moments of the first half, Ewan McNeil?s long ball forward was won in the air by Adam Forde up against former teammate Mark Staunton. Forde beat his man in the air, knocking it down for David Gormley to have his shot deflected at the edge of the area which bounced kindly to the feet of Bryan Young, who made no mistake in half-volleying the ball into the top left corner beyond the reach of Ian Stewart in the Lang net, sending the Lok into half time 1-0 up.

Cambuslang equalised just before the hour mark, with the lively Chris Duff being sent away down the right hand side. He cut in, beating Michael McMullin, and sent an in-swinging cross into the box which John Gemmell attacked, beating Danny Boyle with a diving header sending the ball beyond Longmuir back across himself into the bottom left corner.

Less than 10 minutes later, Adam Forde bettered Gemmell?s effort, meeting McNeil?s in swinging free kick from 40 yards out, beating his man at the front post and with a brilliant diving header, powered the ball past a helpless Stewart in the Lang goal to restore the Lok lead into the top right corner from 15 yards.

With six minutes to go, Michael McMullin made it 3-1 and gave Pollok a two goal cushion. Cambuslang failed to properly clear the ball from Young?s cross, which eventually found Adam Forde, at the edge of the area. He beat his man and played in the overlapping McMullin who took on his man with a fine couple of step-overs, dropping his shoulder and going on the outside, hitting a sweet strike across goal into the bottom right corner, adjusting his body perfectly.

In the final minutes, with Cambuslang piling on the pressure, Lok?s half cleared ball landed with Duff on the left hand side, who played it to Darren Ramsey in the middle. From the left hand side of the area he hit the ball sweetly through a sea of bodies deceiving Longmuir who misjudged the flight of the ball and saw it go through him into the bottom right corner to set up a frantic final few minutes in which Pollok held their own.
