It’s back to Newlandsfield on Saturday for a West Of Scotland Football League Premier Division match against Beith.
Both clubs played midweek with differing results, Pollok with a fine 2-1 win at Rutherglen with goals from Adam Forde and captain Paul Gallacher. At the same time Beith went down 2-1 at home to Darvel.
Beith currently sit 9th in the early league standings with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. Their losses came against Cumnock in the opening match of the league campaign, 1-0 and then midweek against Darvel. Sandwiched in the middle were a 5-0 home win over Largs and a 2-1 away win over Irvine Meadow.
The Ayrshire outfit share the ‘Lok’s colours with black and white home strips and a red change strip. They were formed in 1938 and have won the one Scottish Junior Cup, beating Pollok in the final in 2016. They are managed by former Pollok and Talbot player Bryan Young who took over in January 2020. Young played 71 times for Pollok over two seasons, 2017-18 and 2018-19 season and scored 12 goals.
Young has kept most of the squad from last season and added a few new faces with Jay McKay moving from Glencairn and former St Anthony winger Josh Fowler.
Scotland manager Steve Clark is a former player of ‘The Mighty’. Their record win is an 15-0 victory over Hurlford and record defeat is 11-1 defeat against Kello Rovers.
The last meeting between the clubs was on November 16th, 2019 when ten man Pollok left Bellsdale Park with a 5-2 win. Goalscorers for the ‘Lok were Shaun Fraser, Stuart McCann, Jordan Shelvey, Gary McCann and Chris Dallas.
