Jordan Longmuir’s thoughts on the game and reaching 200 appearances:
It’s a big weekend in the WOSFL Premier Division with a 1st v 2nd placed match, with leaders Auchinleck Talbot visiting Newlandsfield to face Pollok.
Both clubs were in midweek action, Pollok coming from a goal down to beat Irvine Meadow in Ayrshire 2-1, goals from Ryan McGregor and Adam Forde while Auchinleck left Glasgow with all three points after beating Rossvale 1-0, Graham Wilson the scorer for Talbot.
Those results mean Talbot remain at the top on 38 points, with 12 wins and 2 draws, they are the only undefeated team in the league. Pollok moved back into second place with the in over Meadow, and have 35 points, 11 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats.
Talbot are one of the biggest and well known teams at this level, they have won the Scottish Junior Cup a record 13 times, the first in 1949 and last 2019. They were formed in 1909 and are managed by Tommy Sloan who has been at the helm since 2003.
Former Partick Thistle player Kris Doolan is a former Talbot player as is former Scottish International Hugh Robertson who moved to Dundee and won the league under another former Talbot player, Bob Shankly in 1962.
The last competitive meeting between the clubs took place on 5th October 2019 at Beechwood Park, Talbot ran out 3-1 winners on the day.
