Maxi’s post-match reflection:

Pollok starts a busy week of matches with an away trip to Irvine Meadow in the WoSFL Premier Division on Saturday.

This precedes an away game on Tuesday to Clydebank, and then we welcome Darvel to Newlandsfield on Friday, both matches coming in the league.

Last weekend, Pollok came out on top in the derby with Arthurlie, winning 2-0, goals coming from Shaun Fraser and Jay Nelson. At the same time, Medda lost 3-1 away to Largs, which was their second defeat in a row, having won the three previous. They sit 6th in the table with a record of 10 wins, 2 draws, and 9 defeats.

The last game between the clubs was on 5th November 2022 when Meadow left Newlandsfield with all three points after a 2-0 win. The record over the last five matches is two wins for each club and a draw.

Irvine Meadow was formed in 1897 and are one of the most successful teams to come out of the juniors. They have won the Scottish Junior Cup on three occasions, the last time in 1973. Their last trophies came in 2012 when they lifted the West Region Premiership and the West of Scotland Cup.
