Brief highlights from Mark Donnelly:
Pollok travel to Loch Park to take on Glenafton on Saturday in the West Of Scotland Premier Division.
Last week Glenafton were in West of Scotland Cup action as they beat Kilbirnie 3-1 at Loch Park, goalscorers were McMullin, McKee and Kerr. The Glens currently sit 11th in the league table, with a record of won 3, drawn 5 and lost 5. In their last five league matches they have won one, drawn two and lost two. Hugh Kerr and Sean McKenzie lead their goalscoring charts with 13 and 12 respectively.
When Ryan Stevenson was appointed as manager of Glenafton in March last year the club were staring relegation in the face, only for the team to go on a run of 8 wins and 2 draws in the last 13 games to secure Premier Division status. They will hope to go on a similar run this season to move further up the table.
Glenafton were formed in 1930 and originally had black and white as their colours before changing to the more familiar red and white in 1960. The club won the Scottish Junior Cup twice, 1993 and 2017.
We last played Glenafton earlier this season, way back on 13th August when Pollok edged a 3-2 win at Newlandsfield. A Stuart McCann goal and a double from Darren Christie sealed the win on that occasion.
