Pollok FC’s management team has been boosted by the arrival of 36-year-old Ryan Dakhil from Ashfield where he was goalkeeper coach and backup shot-stopper. He comes onto the Lok training field as a coach and data analyst. ‘Dak’ paired up with Paul Gordon for the PG & Dak Podcast which gained some traction last season and our very own Murdo MacKinnon featured in one episode as a special guest and in an uncanny prediction of the future, Dak donned a Lok keepers’ jersey during their 80-minute chat (for anyone clicking – a wee bit sweary!).
Dak, as might be gathered from the above, is a goalkeeper and played with a number of clubs over the years at all levels of the game, with Partick Thistle, St. Roch’s and Ashfield being the bigger names on his CV. He joined the Ashfield management team in 2018 and he will be an asset to the Lok backroom set-up and dressing room going forward.
Speaking to the website today, he spoke of his delight at coming to Newlandsfield and what it was that made him say ‘Aye’ to Murdie:
“Lok are the biggest club in the West – I am looking forward to working with the management team especially the gaffer who I have known a long time.”
“I will be bringing value to the club and I am confident can do that. I am also looking forward to working with the players who I believe are top players some of best in the league,” he said.
Ryan added: “I am also looking forward to getting to know the support – and know I will fall in love with the club as I will give everything – but ultimately it’s about being successful and winning things for them.”
Welcome aboard Dak!
And here’s the PG & Dak interview from last season.
