Pollok Football Club is delighted to report that u19s captain Mouhamed ‘Sena’ Niang has signed a dual contract, meaning he will be eligible to play for both the u-19s and the first team.
This landmark news will help to cement links between the club and the academy as both make ever closer steps towards working in partnership as a community club.
Tony McInally told pollokfc.com: “This is a very exciting time for everyone involved at Pollok which will give all the young players the message and the incentive to work hard and improve each week to maximise their potential as we create the links and players pathways to the first team.
An extatic Sena told us: “I’m so excited. I can’t wait to join up with the First Team for pre-season. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity and trust that the management team have placed in me. I have always had ambition to play at a higher level and am looking forward to the challenge.”
Allan Robb, chairman of Pollok Academy told us: “It is with great pride that we see the first Academy player progress to the senior team. This was always the focus of our partnership and the efforts of Sena and his coaches have been rewarded. We wish him every success and hope there are many Academy players to follow in the future.”
Sena was born in Senegal (Dakar) in 1999. His family moved to Glasgow when he was 11 years old. Sena has had a very successful season as the Captain of u19s. The team reached the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup for the first time, played in 2 semi-finals and we finished 3rd in the league. Sena also swept up the u19s award by being nominated Player of The Year and Players Player of the Year for his consistency and high standards of play which has been recognised by many this season.
