Club captain Paul Gallacher and striker Robbie Winters were surprise guests for the Pollok United 2006s Presentation Night on Friday.
President Iain McFarlane spoke with the two players about the great work the youth academy are doing for the community in a packed Newlandsfield Suite at Loks Bar and Kitchen. Iain told the attendees:
"Hopefully some of you [2006s players] go on to play for the First Team, and those who don't will go on to be supporters. You will always be welcome at Newlandsfield."
Youth players were each presented with an award by Paul and Robbie for their spectacular performance during the season. The players and Iain were presented with signed match balls from the academy players as a show of thanks for the support from the club.
Also in attendance was "Show Racism the Red Card" ambassador and former Scotland international, Derek Ferguson. Derek spoke to the 2006s about the value of inclusion and friendship.
The former Rangers and Hearts midfielder remarked that Pollok United academy is one of the best-run academies in Scotland that he has visited, describing the work that coaches across the academy put in as "unbelievable".
Pollok Football Club would like to thank Pollok United Soccer academy for the kind invitation to their presentation night, and also for the loyal and vocal support the players and coaches bring to Newlandsfield on match days. The club is in awe of the dedication shown by the academy coaches and we firmly believe we will see our first academy graduate playing in the famous black and white at some point in the not-too-distant future!
