Pollok Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Carlo Monti.
Monti returns to Lok for his third spell at the club after leaving Maltese Premier League side Qormi FC.
A favourite of Pollok fans, the ex-Celtic, Morton and Dundee man dazzled the junior football world during his first spell at the club, scoring an incredible 44 goals in 55 competitive appearances.
Monti told pollokfc.com "This is the football club that I call home. I've spoken to a few junior and senior clubs since I got back from Malta, but I knew it was Pollok I wanted to play for, so when Tony got in touch, I jumped at the chance.
"My second spell at the club was cut short, but I hope fans can understand my reasons for leaving—the chance to play full-time top-league football in Malta was simply too good an opportunity for me to turn down.
"I had a great time playing in Malta, and I've developed a lot in my time there. I think I'm a better player now than I was when I was 21 and I can't wait to show the fans at Newlandsfield."
An elated Tony McInally could barely contain his glee at having brought Monti back to the Southside: "We are delighted to bring Carlo back home to Pollok FC. He is a very talented and technically gifted player who will join a quality group of players at the club. Carlo will enhance the exciting, attacking talents we have at the club.
I'm sure our supporters will be very pleased that we have fought off major competition for his signature to bring back one of their own.
I would like to thank the committee at the club for all their support in making this happen."
Club President, Stuart MacDonald, commented: “This signing shows the ambition of the Club to continue to support the management team in bringing top quality players to Newlandsfield. The Pollok fans love Carlo and he played his best football during his first spell there.”
Carlo will be available for selection for Saturday's match at home to Auchinleck, subject to international clearance.
