Dynamic full-back Mark McLennan has signed for Pollok for a second time.
Voted Pollok’s Player of the Year at last season’s AGM, McLennan left the club while a free agent in the summer to sign for his previous club, Irvine Meadow XI.
Tony McInally was delighted that McLennan answered his call: “he’s a quality player, and anyone who saw him play for us last season will know what a standout he was.
“When I heard he’d been released, I was straight onto the phone. We’re always looking to strengthen, and you don’t let players like Mark pass you by if you can help it, particularly at a time of year when fixtures are going to start piling up after the winter weather. We need a deep, strong squad once we get to two and three games a week.
“It’s no secret we were disappointed when Mark chose to sign elsewhere in the summer, but being honest I can understand his reasons.
“Anyway, as far as I’m concerned, that’s in the past. I’d ask every Pollok fan to get right behind Mark as soon as he steps onto the pitch in black and white again.
McLennan spoke exclusively to pollokfc.com: “I’m truly delighted to be back at Newlandsfield to play for my local team.
“I know some supporters might find that a bit hard to take after I left the club in the summer. I can only say to them that sometimes in life you take hard decisions and unfortunately you can’t always get it right.
“The Pollok support were great to me last season—being voted player of the year is up there with the greatest honours I’ve had in my career so far—and I can only offer to repay that support by helping get the club back to where it belongs.”
McLennan’s new deal will run until the end of season 2015-16.
