Club Statement - John Sweeney

Following being listed for transfer,  John Sweeney has today been transferred to St Rochs.

The midfielder made over 100 appearances for the ‘Lok over two spells during which he scored 26 goals as well as wining three trophies. Between spells he spent his time at Clyde, where he would later become Captain. He returned to Newlandsfield in the 2014-15 season after the ‘Lok had been relegated to the First Division. He formed a formidable partnership with Findlay Frye in the centre of the pitch which helped guide the club back to the Super Premier League. He also captained the club to victory in the Evening Times Cup Winners Cup in 2015.

Speaking to pollokfc.com, Sweeney said, “I would like to thank everyone at Pollok for the support during the past 18 months. I had a great time at a great club and wish them all the best.”

He makes the move to St Rochs, based in Provanmill. The 'Candy are currently in the Central First Division and are currently mounting a promotion push to the Super First Division.

We wish John the best in the future.
