Pollok Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Docherty as its new manager. Docherty will be aided in his new role by Brian McGinty, who will act as Docherty’s assistant.
Speaking from Ireland, where he is coaching the Scottish Junior select in the Umbro Quadrangular International tournament, Docherty said: “To say I’m delighted would be an understatement. I think it’s been obvious to everyone how much Brian and I have wanted this job, and we’re grateful to the members of the committee and the playing squad for putting their faith in us. We’ve got a great squad of players in the dressing room, so what we want to do now is to pick up where we left off and lead the club forward.”
Club President Fergus McDiarmid said: “We are delighted to be able to announce the appointment of Stephen as our new manager. He has played a vital role in our rebuilding programme over the last two years, and I’m sure he and Brian will provide much needed continuity and carry on steering the club in the right direction.”
In other news, we are also delighted to announce that former manager John Richardson has also accepted a position at the club, where he will work behind the scenes in a developmental capacity.
