We are disappointed to announce that former Pollok star Andy McClay has had a change of heart, and has decided not become a coach at Pollok FC at this time. McClay intimated to club officials that he wishes to continue playing at present and will therefore continue to represent Rutherglen Glencairn on the pitch for the rest of the season.
However, what one hand takes away, another gives. Stephen Docherty, who managed the squad during the recent interregnum period, has agreed to return to Pollok FC and will step in to fill the vacancy left by McClay’s U-turn.
Rutherglen Glencairn have clarified the position on McClay on their own website, http://www.freewebs.com/rutherglenglencairn/latestglensnews.htm
The language used in our report was merely meant to reflect that, with the club having announced that McClay would come to coach Pollok, it then turned out that was not the case. It was not the intention of this writer to misrepresent any party, and as such, apologies are extended to anyone aggrieved by the statement.
