Burghead Thistle Club History
On the playing side, success has been far and few, there have been many barren years since our heyday in the early seventies when the Thistle were kingpins of North Junior Football. The Pinnacle of those times was winning the North Region Play-Off, beating Parkvale, to become outright winners between
the North (North) and North (East) Leagues. This was in Season 1973-74. Thistle also had their biggest haul of trophies during that season and also their best run in the Scottish Junior Cup, reaching the last sixteen before going down to Newburgh in Fife.
In more recent times the club is enjoying its 2nd spell in the North Region First Division after winning the 2nd division in 2009 / 2010. In May 2010 Thistle won the Elginshire Cup beating Cruden Bay 1 v 0. The last trophy before this to come to Forest Park, was the Morayshire Cup in the season 2007-08.
