Hurlford United 0-0 Pollok

ETHX Energy Scottish Junior Cup

Semi FINAL - First Leg

Blair PARK, SATURDAY 16TH April 2016

It’s all to play for at Newlandsfield Park this Saturday, after a first-leg 0-0 draw at Hurlford United’s Blair Park leaves this Scottish Junior Cup semi-final nicely poised.

The homesters Danny Mitchell had the first sighter of the game in the 6th minute, fizzing a 25 yard effort into the side-netting.

The ‘Ford’s next chance came via the ball breaking off Stewart Kean into the path of James Creaney. who lashed wide.

Ross Robertson’s first time effort from 20 yards sailed over the visitors’ crossbar, before some dithering in the Pollok defence led to Danny Mitchell having a crack at goal which was gratefully clutched by ‘Lok goalkeeper Jordan Longmuir.

Indeed the Pollok custodian would be a prominent figure during the last 5 minutes of the opening period, initially scooping away a Ross Robertson header after a Paul McKenzie corner.

He was then called into action when Hurlford marksman Kean found himself with a chance from 6 yards out, but could only divert the ball straight at the ‘keeper.

The last action of the half came when Ross Robertson sprung the offside trap, Longmuir was off his line quickly to deny him.

‘Lok’s first shot on target came in the 47th minute, Colin Williamson’s ball through to Kevin Bradley allowed the winger space to shoot, Ally Brown holding comfortably.

Both sides then came close with free-kicks, David McClune curling one just wide for the home side, while Davie Winters effort for the visitors’ dipped over the bar.

Davie Winters was next up after being set up by brother Robbie, Ally Brown though was not troubled significantly.

The closing goalmouth incidents of the match both fell the way of the ‘Ford, Ross Chisholm firing off target, before a last minute volley from Kean looped over the frame of the goal.
