Pollok 8-3 Rossvale

With Saturday’s scheduled Scottish Junior Cup semi-final against Hurlford United falling foul to the weather on Friday, Pollok arranged a friendly against Rossvale, also inactive after their match at Johnstone Burgh was postponed. It proved to be an entertaining encounter, 11 goals scored as Pollok ran out 8-3 victors at Newlandsfield Park.

Despite the emphatic margin of victory it was the visitors who took a third minute lead, Jason McKay capitalising on an error by Paul Gallacher to put past Ryan Ward.

Parity was restored in the 18th minute, Kieran McAleenan picking out Robbie Winters, who volleyed beyond Jon Connolly in the ‘Vale goal.

A double from Del Hepburn gave the homesters a 3-1 lead at the interval, which became 4-1 soon after, Carlo Monti netting from the edge of the area after a powerful run.

Two goals in three minutes, a close range header from Fraser Team and an Alexander Cassells penalty, had Rossvale breathing down the necks of Pollok, before Hepburn completed his hat-trick with a penalty, and added his 4th of the game with a looping header in the 71st minute.

A defensive error allowed Robbie Winters to net in the 75th minute, and the ex-Scotland man ensured a fight over possession of the match ball with a back-post header to complete a hat-trick of his own, and the scoring for the afternoon.
